This page serves as a guide to help editors get started on this Wiki. While there is much missing and much to do, the wiki is growing fast every day. Please read this article all the way through before making any edits if you are new! It will ensure that the edits you make are of the highest quality!

To-Do: on this page you can see what tasks are being done by whom and also where help is needed. If you wish to contribute, feel free to pick a task and mark it as yours by adding your name to it. Alternatively, you can search for "Missing information" to find pages that are missing information.

General "Rules" of Thumb[]

DO ask before making new pages, most missing pages have already been made or are already planned by someone.

DO ask questions if you need any help or advice or if you can't find anything.

DO check on the To-Do page to see where help is needed.

DON'T add new categories to pages. These are being reworked at the moment.

DON'T start working on something someone else already started. If you wish to assist, contact them with the information you have rather than editing over their current work.

Formatting and Design[]

Please keep to the formatting that is already present on the Wiki. If you have any questions, ideas or suggestions, please contact an admin.

Linking[]

When linking to another page in the Wiki, instead of using the entire URL as the link, use

double brackets

and simply type the name of the page. For example, the following code in the Source Editor:

William

will appear as William. When using the visual editor, typing in the first pair of brackets will automatically create a pop-up window, which lets you type in the page's name.

You can also link to headings and sub-headings in a page by adding a # after the name of the page and adding the heading after it:

Gameplay#Controls

Page links can display text other than the page's name. To do this, add what you'd like it to be displayed as after the double brackets, then a divider, then the link as usual as such:

Controls

will be displayed as simply Controls.

To make it easier to link to headings, we also have a script that allows you to click on a lock icon next to a heading:

Heading Link 01.png

Clicking is will change the URL in your browser's address bar to that of the heading's:

Heading Link 02.png

The part after the "/wiki/" section is going to internally link to the heading, for example the Kodama page links to

Shrine#Kodama_.26_Kodama_Blessings

DO Add links ONLY to the first instance of each topic mentioned in an article.

Terminology[]

Try to keep terminology and descriptions consistent throughout the wiki, using formal and impersonal language. Avoid using "you," "we," and other second-person terms, and do not use slang or colloquialisms. Avoid terms like "probably," "looks like," "clearly," "really," etc.

The following is a list of terms as they should be consistently worded (more to be added later): "William": When referring to the character that the player controls.

When in doubt, try to reword the phrase to not include either one (i.e., "Retreat when William is low on health" could be re-written as "Retreat when low on health.")

Enemy Attacks[]

Use the present and imperfect tense when describing enemy attacks and behaviour (i.e. "Charges forward, spinning into a ball"). Only use future tense if the attack is circumstantial (i.e. "Will jump back if the player gets too close").

Controls[]

Use PS4 controls: L1, L2, R1, R2, UP, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT, , , O, when describing actions. You can add the face buttons by adding the following templates to the page:

Triangle
Square
Circle
Cross

Elemental Effects[]

Just like controls, you can use the following templates to display the elemental effects:

Fire
Water
Wind
Lightning
Earth
Paralysis
Poison
Confusion

They'll appear as Fire, Water, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Paralysis, Poison and Confusion.

Item Rarity[]

you can use the following templates to display item rarity:

Common
Uncommon
Rare
Exotic
Divine
Ethereal

They'll appear as Common, Uncommon, Rare, Exotic, Divine, Ethereal.

YourText
