A greatspear said to be one of the three legendary spears of Japan. When sheathed in its scabbard, the massive weapon is said to resemble an oversized pestle, or "tegine" in Japanese. Created by a master swordsmith from Suruga province, the blade's fuller is razor sharp and shows a high level of craftsmanship. Due to the weapon's incredible weight, only a handful of warriors are capable of wielding it. Created on the orders of the daimyo of Shimousa province, Yuki Harutomo, this greatspear was inherited by his ward Hideyasu, formerly of the Matsudaira clan. The Matsudaira clan had a strange old saying that went: "When Otegine is unsheathed, the snow will fall."
