A sword forged by Hasebe Kunishige, one of the ten apprentices of Sagami province's legendary swordsmith, Masamune. One story goes that Heshikiri Hasebe was to used to kill a criminal who was hiding under some shelves. Both wood and man were sliced clean in two by the weight of the blade alone, earning it a reputation for extraordinary sharpness. Said to be Oda Nobunaga's favourite sword, it was presented to Toyotomi Hideyoshi by Nobunaga himself when Hideyoshi, accompanied by Kuroda Kanbei, went for his first audience with the great shogun.
