This hachigane combines a ninja's hood with a steel plate to protect the forehead, and the nose and mouth are covered so as to prevent the wearer's breath escaping to reveal their presence. The dye used has antibacterial and antivenomous properties, and can prevent the absorption of toxins into the bloodstream. It was used by the Hayabusa ninja, a proudly independent ninja clan based around a sacred mountain. Much of the truth behind this secretive clan is shrouded in mystery, and only a select few were privy to their arcane techniques. They differed from other clans in that they served no master and were not motivated by profit; they were solely focused on ridding the lands of any evil that should attempt to sully it.
This upper—body wear is dyed a deep blue and is worn in conjunction with chainmail. Though tight—fitting, the material is highly elastic and the garment sleeveless, ensuring the wearer can fight unhindered whether armed or barehanded.
