The cloud dragon kabuto is a form of "kawari–kabuto"—a family of helmets featuring fantastical designs. This helmet has a peach–shaped bowl with a cloud dragon depicted in silver gilt. The cloud dragon depicts a dragon soaring above the clouds. Such a gallant image was favoured by samurai, and is also seen on folding screens and "maki–e" lacquer work.
