A helmet once used by Tenkai, senior vassal to the Oda clan and a key figure in Nobunaga's unification of Japan. The skullcap is raised in a vertical peak, a popular style of the era called "eboshi," and the crescent front crest bears the insignia of the Akechi clan. The bellflower was also the emblem of the Toki clan, descendants of Minamoto—no—Yorimitsu of Yokai vanquishing fame, from whom the Akechi clan were an offshoot.
