“A katana forged by the master swordsmith Sadamune of Sagami province, apprentice to the legendary Masamune. The sword was used to slay the retainer to the Miyoshi clan, Atagi Fuyuyasa, from whom it takes its name. Toyotomi Hideyoshi conferred it to the Maeda household, after which the sword found its way into the hands of Kobayakawa Hideaki. Originally forged as a long tachi, the blade was later shortened. Atagi Sadamune also goes by the name "Mizu ni Furu Yuki," or "Snow Falling on Water."
